For many riders Honda Fireblade is the original sportsbike. First launched over twenty years ago the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is one of the standards by which we judge the litre class. The latest incarnation is faster, lighter and more technical than ever before. Honda put everything they know about two-wheeled speed, the RC213V MotoGP machine and its road going RC213V-S sibling, as the new bikes technological base points. The Fireblade’s all-new 1,000cc, liquid-cooled DOHC engine shares its bore and stroke with the RC213V-S and features a semi-cam gear train, finger-follower rocker arms, forged aluminium pistons and titanium con-rods. Output is a staggering 214.6bhp, with a peak torque of 113Nm delivered @ 12,500rpm.
Its electronics package includes a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, optimised HSTC, adjustable Start Mode, 2-level ABS, a 5-inch TFT display and Honda Smart Key. A brand-new chassis employs an aluminium diamond-style frame and a Moto GP derived swingarm, full Showa suspension, revised 3-level HESD and new Nissin brakes. Even the bodywork defies drag while enhancing high-speed handling with those winglets. And then there’s the SP version. This is a bike that belongs on the race-track. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is Honda’s ultimate statement of pure super sports aggression.
