The MT range from Yamaha is rather marvellous but the MT10 particularly so. Fitted with the motor from the last to current R1, the roadster has the same chassis and dimensions as the older R1, but without the bodywork.

The previous FJR1300 led a long and interesting life. They were used by more than one police force, including our own Gardai who ran a fleet of them for years before retiring them in 2016. They also featured as services bikes being used by the Automobile Association and even as Taxi Bikes for Virgin Limo Bikes in London.

DCT stands for Dual Clutch Transmission. In the simplest terms possible it’s an automatic transmission system that uses two separate clutches for odd and even gears. Everything is still housed in the one unit and the rider can override the automatic selector by manually using the electro hydraulics via a set of buttons on the bars.

The numbers are shocking. Before I’ve even gone near the new V4 we’ve read the spec sheet and Ducatis’ newest sportsbike, the V4 is putting out 214 horse power at 13,000 rpm while having a dry weight of only 174 kilos. This is the first mass production Ducati to feature a V4 block and it’s only possible because of the companies involvement in MotoGP.

The team at Franklin have added the Indian Springfield to the demo fleet. The bike looks both imposing and impressive with its black bodywork and chrome panels. The detachable windscreen promises presence as well as comfort as does the deep seats.

Hondas new Goldwing is a thoroughly new machine with a raft of new features. Yet cleverly, it isn’t any less of a Goldwing than the previous model. The flagship touring motorcycle was first launched 43 years ago. It has continued to grow in engine size and capability ever since.

The K1600 engine and platform has been put to work in another model and the ‘Bagger’ looks big! The chassis is no larger than the original GT but the lack of top box married to the tapered panniers and the low screen give it the impression of being wider and longer than it actually is.
