The KTM 890 Duke is a lightweight package of power and punch. The bigger displacement to 889cc uses a more sophisticated mapping logic and is now pumps out a handy 115 Hp and 92nM of torque. Thanks to the rotating mass of the engine being upped by 20% the new bike now has better cornering stability and a much smoother engine action at lower revs and part throttle when compared to the older 790. While this is a machine that has the ideal power to weight ratio to take to the track, it’s smooth enough to be enjoyed at lower speeds.
This is a better-equipped machine than some of the bikes that the brand has been so well known for in the past. Details like a light-sensitive, customisable TFT display the rider aids. These include rain, street and sport modes. There is, of course, a track mode for those of us who need to release the bike’s full potential! Traction control can be adjusted through a nine-point scale and there is even a wheelie control setting on the new bike. Cornering ABS is fitted as standard and the bike comes in at a lower price than last year’s, higher spec-ed Duke 890 R.
